Beddgelert - Snowdon race

CLUBMATES TIE IN SNOWDON RACE

Northumberland Fell Runners' Tom Cornthwaite and Josh Tighe shared the honours in the inaugural Beddgelert - Snowdon trail race after 11.3 miles of racing.

The two friends crossed the line together, just 15 seconds ahead of Aberystwyth's Welsh international Felipe Jones, winner of last week's Cader Idris race.

The event, a trial for the world long-distance trail championship, involved 4,068 feet of climbing, the final ascent on Snowdon being particularly gruelling.

English international Cornthwaite finished ninth in last year's Snowdon international race but this time the race finished on the summit.
