CHAMPS BEST FOR NORTH WALES ATHLETES
Several of North Wales' outstanding young athletes were among the stars of the Welsh Schools' track and field championships in Cardiff, with four of them setting new championship best performances.
In the middle boys' class Colwyn Bay's Nathan Thomason (John Bright) won both the shot and hammer, the latter with a massive CBP of 62.03, 20 metres ahead of his closest challenger.
There was a similar double for Deeside's Amber Rimmington (Flint High), with gold in both the middle girls' discus and hammer, the latter with a championship best of 52.77.
Mold Alun sprinter Shannon Malone did the double in the senior girls' category, claiming a new record from former Colwyn Bay athlete Rachel Johncock in the 100 metres.
