Pipe Dream

TAGGART GIVES BENTLEY A ROUGH RIDE

Manx-based English international Lloyd Taggart led all the way for a clear win in the Pipe Dream fell-race from Dolgarrog, finishing almost three minutes clear of runner-up Russell Bentley (Eryri), last year's winner.

The course was extended by a mile this year because of engineering works, and instead of the gruelling climb up the steps alongside the pipeline runners climbed the zigzag path.

While Taggart was never under any real threat Bentley had a battle with veteran John Parkinson, who passed him at one stage.

Meanwhile Taggart's partner Jackie Lee had a comfortable victory, finishing a superb sixth overall and six minutes ahead of Becky Law.

 Results: 1 L Taggart (Manx, M40) 37.25, 2 R Bentley (Eryri) 40.30, 3 J Parkinson (Eryri, M40) 41.07, 4 C Jones (Eryri, M40) 42.11, 5 M Davies (NWRR) 43.36, 6 J Lee (Eryri, SL) 44.01.
