MARTIN AND LAVENDER BATTLE IT OUT AGAIN
Claire Martin (Telford) and Alison Lavender (Oswestry), both former champions of the North Wales League, did battle once again in the Midlands Cross Country Championships in Leamington.
The Telford athlete came out top, finishing fifth overall and second L35, with Lavender eighth. Between them, in sixth place, was Welsh international Sian Edwards (Swansea).
In the Northern championships in Knowsley five-times Snowdon race winner Andi Jones (Sale) was second, with former Bangor student Nick Swinburn (Morpeth) fourth. In 36th place in a high-quality field was former North Wales champion Ricky Challinor (Liverpool Harriers).
