Cardiff Cross Challenge

CARI FLIES THE FLAG FOR WALES

Menai's Cari Hughes was the sole Welsh winner in the Cardiff Cross Challenge when she took the under-15 girls' title.

Her brother Iolo was second in the under-17s' race, just 10 seconds adrift of winner Jordan Rowe (Colchester).

Swansea's Dewi Griffiths was also second in the senior men's race. He finished behind Adam Hickey but is still in contention for the series title.

Georgia Garner (Colwyn Bay) had another tremendous run but just missed a podium place in the U20's event, beaten by the England pair of Bobby and Alex Clay and Ireland's Siobhan O'Flaherty.

In the under-15 boys' race Maldwyn's Joseph Crutchley came 12th and former Maldwyn athlete Gwynant Jones (Cardiff) was 18th in a high-quality under-20 competition.
