ATHLETE'S PROFILE (7)
LES COATHUP (BUCKLEY)
ANY PREVIOUS CLUBS: Wirral
AGE AND D.O.B.: 60 - 21.7.52
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN COMPETING: 25 years
ANY OTHER SPORTS PLAYED: Football
OTHER HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: Reading, walking
FAVOURITE RACING DISTANCE: 10k
FAVOURITE RACE AND WHY: Prestatyn 5k and Abergele 5m - great events by really nice people
FAVOURITE TRAINING SESSION: 6 x 1,000m/ 1min recovery - interval session
PROUDEST MOMENT: Buckley winning the Borders League
WHOM DO YOU MOST ADMIRE (INSIDE ATHLETICS AND OUT): David Williams (Wrexham) - a gentleman and a great sportsman.
ANY PERSONAL AMBITIONS: To keep going till I'm 80 and to be still able to take part with younger runners
ANY REGRETS: Life's too short - dwell on the positives
ANY EMBARRASSING EXPERIENCES: Ask anyone from my club about my running gear with holes in. I have no shame (It's the stuff in them not the stuff that's on them).
WHAT CHANGES (IF ANY) WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN THE SPORT: I would like to see an inter-club elite training group for North Wales to enable us to improve against the likes of Liverpool and South Wales, and encourage the top runners to race less and concentrate on quality PB performance.
