ROBERTS WINS SEASON OPENER
The traditional North Wales opener of the fell-running season at Moel Yci, Tregarth, attracted a good field, with several runners coming from over the border.
Max Whitlock (Helsby) set the early pace but then lost ground when he chose the wrong line, allowing the experienced Mathew Roberts and Lloyd Taggart to move ahead.
Roberts pulled away to record a comfortable win, while Welsh international Katie Beecher (Mynydd Du) was also in commanding form, finishing over three minutes ahead of runner-up Andrea Rowlands.
