Welsh Champs

DOUBLE GOLD FOR ANYA

Young Menai sprinter Anya Williams was one of the stars of the Welsh track and field championships in Cardiff with a double gold-winning performance.

She followed up her 28.56 victory in the U13 200m by taking the 100m title in 13.74.

The Menai club had another different " double" to  celebrate with Osian Perrin and Cari Hughes both winning their 1,500m races. Osian's time of 4-42.63 was just two seconds outside the U13 record.

In the senior men's discus Osian Jones was well outside the Welsh record but had the satisfaction of claiming a new championship best performance - albeit by the narrowest of margins of just one centimetre.

Commonwealth silver medallist Sally Peake was also below her best with a clearance of 4.05m and was well beaten by England's Holly Bradshaw.
