English U17 Champs

WILLIS TAKES 3,000M GOLD

Two of North Wales's brightest young stars were among the medals at the English under-17s' championships at Bedford.

 In the U15 boys' 3,000m Wrexham Matthew Willis took gold in 9-08.48, almost  10 seconds outside his pb, while Cari Hughes (Menai) was third in the U17 800m in 2-12.05.

 Nathan Thomas (Colwyn Bay) was one of the days' busiest athletes, reaching the finals of three field events. He was fourth in the U17 shot and sixth in both the hammer and discus.

 Other North Wales results included:- Girls U15: Hammer 4 Jade Williams (Wrex). Ladies U17: 8 Abigail Bowers (Oswestry). Men under 17: TJ 4 Thomas Walley (Wrex) 12.97.
