BLEAKLEY ENJOYS RETURN HOME
Former Colwyn Bay athlete James Bleakley enjoyed his return home at the weekend when he won the Twin Piers 10k.
The Trafford AC athlete is more at home over shorter distances and is rarely seen on the roads, but has a pb of 32.50 from last year's Trafford 10k.
His winning time in the Bay was a relatively slow 34.30 but all competitiors had to battle against a tough headwind along the prom. Second and third were the consistent Lee Jones and Brendan Rothery.
First woman home in 27th place overall was Bangor student Sarah Caskey, with Christine Holmes (Trentham) 39 seconds behind.
With so many times down on previous years because of the wind one of the outstanding runs came from Menai's in-form super-vet Jim Woodcock, who won the M60 class in 40.06.
